It’s officially pumpkin season! The changing leaves and crisp air has us all in our fall feels. We know a lot of you have been looking forward to fall too, and we can’t blame you. After all, nothing beats football, hoodies and hot chocolate. So, how will you be spending the season? We recommend a day (but you’ll want to stay longer, trust us) in Goldsboro! To get you started on your autumn adventure, here are just a few of the many exciting ways to fill your day in Wayne County.

Morning

Wake up feeling refreshed at the beautiful Plum Tree Gardens Bed and Breakfast, located just two blocks from historic downtown. Or, if you’re more of a ‘rustic-type’ you may choose to wake up surrounded by nature in one of the cozy cabins at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park.

And what’s a fall morning without coffee and pastries? Your first stop has to be Mickey’s Pastry Shop. This quaint French press bistro and art gallery is sure to get your morning off to a great start.

Now, you’re ready for fall fun! Visit the newly opened Farm Credit Farmer’s Market, located just behind the Maxwell Center, to pick out the perfect mums and grab fresh, delicious fall veggies! Aren’t we forgetting something? Oh, yes – the pumpkins! Visit Odom Farming Company for your next adventure. This fall they have a pumpkin patch, 7-acre corn maze, playground, and so much more for you to enjoy.

Afternoon

Lunch time! No stay in Goldsboro would be complete without good ol’ eastern North Carolina BBQ. Check out our Brews & ‘Cue Map to find some of the best barbeque in the state, located right here in Wayne County. They’ll serve it up right, with all the fixin’s too!

What will your afternoon adventure be? There are so many choice. If it’s a warm fall day (which is common in our neck of the woods), paddle down trails on the Cliffs of Neuse or visit Busco Beach, an ATV-lovers playground. Or, maybe golfing is more your forte. Check out the many golf courses Wayne County has to offer.

Evening

After your busy day in Goldsboro, we bet you’re ready for a little bit of relaxation. Take a stroll through the heart of downtown, here you’ll discover lots of trendy boutiques and day spas tucked inside of historic buildings. You may be surprised to learn this, but train tracks used to run right through the center of downtown, but $15 million later, Goldsboro is beautifully revitalized. Now, it’s waiting to revitalize you!

Stay downtown for dinner too. We have it all, from sushi and burgers at Jay’s to classic Asian cuisine at The Laughing Owl. Then, end the night with a brew at Well Travelled Beer. This local bottle shop and bar stocks a growing assortment of craft beer, wine, sake and soda. This is the perfect place to pick up unique gifts to take home to friends!

Oh, and to add even more fun to you fall day in Goldsboro, be on the lookout for events like Taste of Wayne, Lights Up Downtown, annual Turkey Trot 5K & 10K and so much more!
