Whether your thing is sampling mouthwatering BBQ, sipping delicious craft beer, learning about air power and impressive jets, or hearing ghost stories and history, we have a tour for you. Simply book your tour in advance using the booking information below, and we look forward to showing you a good time in Goldsboro!

We don’t want you to miss out, so if a tour is showing as full, just add your name to the waitlist by emailing Amber Herring at Visit Goldsboro office at aherring@goldsboronc.gov providing the following info: name of attendees wishing to take the tour and each of their phone numbers. No matter what, two days before the tour, we will contact registrants to confirm spots and pull from the waitlist if spots become available.

Ghosts of Goldsborough Tour
Discover Goldsboro’s past through spooky tales of spirits and war! Downtown’s buildings have quite the story to tell, and a paranormal investigator is the perfect story-teller!

Led by Candlelight Tour Company, come to historic downtown Goldsboro to follow a real-life paranormal investigator dressed in period costume and hear stories of war, death, and spirits that inhabit our fair city! Be prepared to learn the history of Goldsborough, as well as be entertained by the haunted history that awaits. There’s approximately 2 miles of leisurely walking, so wear comfortable shoes and bring your cameras! If inclement weather causes tour cancellation, refunds will be honored. If would like to cancel to receive a refund, you must do so 72 hours before the tour start time. If cancellation occurs within 72 hours of the tour, a refund is not guaranteed. 48 hours before the tour, you will receive a reminder via email and request to confirm your spot. Tour duration: 3 hours. Scheduled time: 8pm-11pm. The tour departs from and returns to the Wayne County Museum located at 116 N. William St. Parking is free.

Seymour Johnson AFB Tour
Get a look at Behind the Scenes of the Greatest Air Force Base in the World! The proud home of the F-15E Strike Eagle and the KC-135 Stratotanker, Seymour Johnson AFB has become known and awarded as the “Best Air Force Base in the World.” Housing the largest inventory of F-15Es in the world, Goldsboro is the hub for training and deploying the nation’s best fighter pilots and weapon systems operators.

Tours are offered the last Thursday of every month and are absolutely FREE. To secure your spot on a tour, please call our office at 919-734-7922 or email aherring@goldsboronc.gov. Reservations are accepted as late as the day prior.

During the tour, you will learn about the multi-faceted mission of the 4th Fighter Wing and the 916th Air Refueling Wing, and how these two “wings” make Seymour Johnson AFB once of the most fascinating and vital bases in the armed forces. And, of course, you’re going to get up-close with the jets, take pictures, and peak inside the cockpit. Plus, it’s highly likely you’ll witness take-offs and air power during your tour!

When calling or emailing to reserve your spot, our office will provide the details and directions for the meeting point, the old Rite Aid building, 2700 E. Ash St) — which is the usual pickup location for the tour. Transportation is provided on an air conditioned bus. Minimal walking is required on the tour. If you need special assistance for the tour or have concerns about mobility, please call our office and we will notify the tour guide of any needs you may have.
Most tours begin at 8:30 a.m. and last approximately 3 hours. We suggest you bring water and a snack.
If you wish to take pictures, please bring a non-camera phone. Meaning, a camera that is point-and-shoot- and unattached to a cellular device. Please note, pictures are allowed while on the tour, but there are times when pictures are not allowed. We ask guests of the base to be mindful and respectful of sensitive areas.
If you are with a group of 20 or more people and are interested in setting up a special tour on a different day, please contact our office to inquire about tour arrangements.

Brews and ‘Cues Tour

BBQ and beer – the perfect match! Sample a range of Goldsboro’s finest craft beer, meet the brewers and learn about the process. Then of course, feast on delicious BBQ, meet the pit master and see how the magic happens! Take home lots of memories, and some awesome Brews and ‘Cues themed gifts to remind you of your tour.

Here in Goldsboro, we pride ourselves on our legendary BBQ and impressive selection of craft beer. On this guided tour, you will get your fill of both; meeting the men and women responsible for the delicious results, their story, the process, and more.  Transportation, food, beverages and souvenir are included for the tour fee. Closed-toe shoes are advised when entering into BBQ pits, and we also suggest wearing pants with stretchy waist bands! Strictly 21 year of age and above only, no person under 21 will be admitted on the tour. Please bring Identification. If would like to cancel to receive a refund, you must do so 72 hours before the tour start time. If cancellation occurs within 72 hours of the tour, a refund is not guaranteed. 48 hours before the tour, you will receive a reminder via email and request to confirm your spot. Tour duration: 4 hours. Scheduled time: 11.30am-3.30pm. Tour is rain or shine, and nonrefundable due to weather. Meet up location is Goldsboro Brew Works at 207 N John St, Goldsboro, NC 27530. Parking is free.

BBQ Trail Tasting Tour
Taste your way through some of the best BBQ the south has to offer! Meet the pitmasters, learn their secrets and taste a range of delicious Eastern style BBQ!
