This year has been a busy one for Goldsboro. Not only have we had fun activities and events in the community, but also the opening of two exciting venues! These places are providing locals with new experiences and opportunities, and are also attracting people from across the state and country! Here are two of the wonderful additions 2018 has brought to Goldsboro and Wayne County.

Bryan Multi-Sports Complex

We’re getting our game on! In April of this year, Goldsboro became home to the most unique, premier multi-sports complex in the country. The Bryan Multi-Sports Complex is the product of the first-ever joint P4 partnership between a military base and its home community. It’s a perfect example of how positive collaboration between the City of Goldsboro and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base strengthens the quality of life throughout the region. The massive complex is located on 63 acres and includes eight fields, walking trails, spacious restrooms, state-of-the-art field house with concessions facilities and meeting space, and over 400 paved parking spots. In the future, the Sports Complex plans to add exciting features, like a splash pad, covered picnic areas, and playground.

In the very first week following the grand opening, the Complex hosted the NC Soccer Kepner President’s Cup, bringing in over 1,500 people to Goldsboro for a state-sanctioned youth soccer tournament. Three additional NC Youth Soccer Association tournaments have been scheduled within the first operating year. Oh, and did we mention, the Complex is also one of the hosts for Olympic Development Program try-outs this fall/winter!

The Maxwell Center

In March, The Maxwell Regional Agricultural and Convention Center, referred to as The Maxwell Center, opened in Goldsboro. From receptions and corporate meetings to military balls and expos, it’s quickly becoming the go-to venue in the east because of its convenient location, sophisticated feel and affordability. The 66,000 square-foot space has almost 800 events on the books for its first operating year. The Maxwell Center has already hosted many events drawing people from all over the state including a job fair, women’s expo, ceremonies, shopping events and more! If you’re looking for the perfect venue, look no further than the regions newest event space!

The City of Goldsboro and Wayne County are currently accepting proposals from hotel developers to build an upscale, select-service hotel in the lot adjacent to the venue. That means convenient overnight accommodations for our out-of-town guests – and with so much to do in town, they can have more time to explore and adventure in Goldsboro. We’re really growing here in Goldsboro-Wayne County, which makes sense due to our agricultural roots! You’re invited to experience the exciting changes, so let us help plan your visit today by emailing visitgoldsboro@goldsboronc.gov. See you soon!
