These third generation farmers at Odom Farming Company have shaken up the agritourism scene in Wayne County by opening their doors for unique seasonal experiences! Find you-pick strawberries throughout Spring, you-pick sunflowers in Summer, and you-pick pumpkins in Fall with an assortment of other fun activities such as tractor and hay-rides, outdoor games, and their unique animals, lovingly called the “Pasture Gang”.

The Mount Olive Historic District captures the architectural history and development of a small, bustling Eastern North Carolina town from the 1850s to 1949. Encompassing approximately 200 acres, the district includes homes, commercial buildings, churches, industrial plants and schools. It is rich with architectural details, with 655 resources and 71 percent classified as contributing – at least 50 years old as of 1999 and retaining architectural integrity.

This battlefield is the site of Foster’s Raid on Goldsborough Bridge. On December 17, 1862, some 2,000 Confederate forces attempted to stop Union General John Foster’s 12,000 troops from destroying this vital railroad bridge. It was a pivotal turning point in the Civil War. This site now entails walking trails to take visitors to nine historical markers where specific events of the battle are detailed. Free guided tours are available by scheduling in advance via email or phone.

Home of the 4th Fighter Wing, which flies the F-15E Strike Eagle jet, and the 916th Air Refueling Wing, which flies the KC-135R Stratotanker, the Base has an intricate history within and around Goldsboro and Wayne County. First activated in 1942, the installation was named in honor of U.S. Navy Lt. Seymour A. Johnson, a Goldsboro native, who was killed in March 1941. By 1944, the primary mission of the base was to train P-47 Thunderbolt pilots. Base tours for the public are offered monthly through the Visit Goldsboro, NC office.

The Cliffs of the Neuse State Park, with impressive cliffs overlooking the Neuse River, has been a landmark for centuries. Five hiking trails explore the riverside habitats and their mature forests and lead to some quiet fishing spots along the waterway. Find an 11-acre swimming lake with a bathhouse, grass-covered lawn, sandy beach and diving platform with rental boats available. Expansive picnic grounds are nearby. Additionally, group campsites and a 35-site family campground. A visitor center offers museum-quality exhibits that explore the natural and cultural history of the region, complementing regular interpretive programs.
