ConventionSouth Annual Readers’ Choice Award Names Goldsboro-Wayne County as a Top Destination in North Carolina for Meetings

The Travel and Tourism Department for the City of Goldsboro-Wayne County, also known as Visit Goldsboro, has been awarded the 2019 ConventionSouth Annual Readers’ Choice Award as a top destination for meeting planners in the state of North Carolina. Out of the thousands of destinations across the south, over 2,500 Convention and Visitor Bureaus (CVBs) were nominated, but 337 were chosen as winners across the southern states. Only 26 CVB destinations were located in North Carolina.  As one of the 26 CVBs, this is the second time that Visit Goldsboro has received the award since ConventionSouth was founded in 2001.

Ashlin Glatthar, Travel & Tourism Director for Goldsboro-Wayne County commented on the win saying, “In the last four years, downtown Goldsboro has transformed and we’ve seen the opening of two new hotels, Bryan Multi-Sports Complex, and the Maxwell Center.  We’re proud of the progress Goldsboro-Wayne County has made toward becoming a unique location for sports and meeting planners alike, and it’s an honor for us to receive recognition on a national level. Having just been awarded as the host for the US Quidditch Mid-Atlantic Regionals and the Maxwell Center receiving the Convention South Reader’s Choice Award for Top Venue for two years back-to-back, our efforts feel both validated and charged to work even harder to better our region.”

ConventionSouth is a national multimedia resource for planning events in the South, with over 35 years as a leading planning resource. The publication is distributed to more than 18,000 meeting professionals located across the country who book meetings in the South. “ConventionSouth readers and fans have voted to decide the best meeting sites in the South, and it is no surprise to us that Goldsboro Travel & Tourism has been selected to receive our annual Readers’ Choice Award,” said Senior Editor Marcia Bradford.  “The value in receiving this prestigious recognition is that it comes from the United States’ top meeting professionals who hold events in the South. These planners demand the highest level of customer service and quality facilities, and they have contributed in determining that Goldsboro Travel & Tourism indeed displays the commitment to professionalism, creativity and service that they require.”

This honor will be highlighted within the December Awards Issue: highlighting the Best Meeting Sites, CVBs, Hotels and Facilities (Check out the 2018 Awards Issue HERE)
